Trifextra Challenge: Week 83
This week's Trifecta Challenge asked writers to reach back and find those memories of middle school English class and write a Haiku poem on the subject of our choice. Anyone who has written Haiku poems can tell you that they're like potato chips - you can't write just one! You can read my challenge contribution below. Feel free to scroll down a little further and read a few others I wrote.
Soldier
Pixel enemies
fight, joystick generals lead,
Mother's calls end the war.
Here are a few others I wrote just for fun:
Friend
Breath slows, sun dips low;
cold nose touching me - my friend,
our sleep warms my heart.
Night Watch
Red eyes greet new dawn,
Fast mind slows, soldiers abed;
"Good night, men." Tomorrow, again.
(Untitled)
Dim stars light my arms,
dirt and sweat my enemy,
oiled, ready for war.
I hope you enjoyed reading these. It was fun writing them! The inspiration came from my own enlistment in the U.S. Navy during Operation Desert Storm/ Desert Shield. Feel free to leave me a comment at the bottom of this page and let me know what your thoughts.

Long Walk
A flowered ring around her head gave comfort. Short, deliberate steps across sand brought smiling tears and deepening water. And the next stage of life.
